Joe Ikhimnwin is desperate to win silverware with London Lions
The Lions' captain is desperate to win silverware with his hometown club, who are now just one round away from the BBL Cup Final following their 76-67 victory at Leicester Riders on Saturday.
“I feel it was a standout performance by the whole team,” said Ikhinmwin.
“We went there, played well, stuck to our defensive game plan and came away with the win.”
When these two teams met in Tyneside last month it was the Lions who were victorious, but this time the Eagles had their revenge with a 88-81 victory.
“I feel like we had a slow start and we didn't come out as aggressively as we usually do,” admitted Ikhinmwin.
“We definitely picked it up in the second half but we were playing from behind and [Newcastle] did a good job of maintaining their lead.”

The Eagles are the team standing between the Lions and a trip to Barclaycard Arena in January and if Ikhinmwin's side are to get past them, it will need to start at the defensive end.
“Going into the semi-final we'll look back at this game and see where we made the mistakes defensively, learn from that and make the adjustments,” he said.
“I've been saying all year that we're going to win games with our defence.
“If we can keep up the pressure, keeps teams' scoring down and keep them out of their comfort zone, we're going to win a lot of games this season.”
